Skills acquired outside of university
Recognition of skills acquired outside of university
If you have acquired relevant skills outside of university (e.g. vocational training, vocational academies, via MOOCs, etc.), you may apply for these to be recognised.
Your application must be submitted to the Studienverwaltung. Please use the form entitled “ Anrechnung von außerhochschulisch erworbenen Kompetenzen” and attach all relevant documentation. Your application must be submitted within the first year after enrolment. We recommend submitting your application as early as possible. Further applications for recognition or consideration submitted at a later date can only be considered if the credits in question had not yet been awarded at the time of the previous application.
A decision on your application will be made by the person responsible for credit recognition in your degree programme. Credits will be recognised if the skills acquired outside of university are equivalent in nature. You must provide evidence of this. At most, half of the credit points for your course of study can be awarded on the basis of skills acquired outside of university. The provisions in § 38 of the Framework Study and Examination Regulations (RSPO) apply.
A grading examination may be required to establish the equivalency of the skills acquired. Grading examinations cannot be resat.
Please note that the recognition process can take some time. You will be notified of the decision by the Studienverwaltung upon completion of the process.
If you have any general or organisational questions, please contact the Studien-Info-Service. For specific questions relating to your field of study, please see the relevant person for credit recognition or academic advising.
